SWIMMING IS A LIFESTYLE

I come from an unusually large family. Swimming was something we could all do together because we could all do it at our own level. Some of my favorite childhood memories involve water and I gained a passion for swimming very early in life. To me swimming is an essential life skill and all should learn.

I swam on the swim team in middle school and continued through most of high school. When I was 15 I started as an assistant to swim coaches and at 16 became a lifeguard and swim instructor myself. I will never forget the first time I had been working with a student on a skill and that aha moment hit and they finally were able to accomplish that skill. It was the moment I knew I wanted to be involved in teaching in one way or another for the rest of my life. I continued to teach swimming throughout the rest of high school, through my college years and beyond.  \

While in college I met my husband and we started our family together. We have four children and swimming has been a big part of what we do together as a family to this day. For a time we lived in southern california and we had a pool. There I had my own business of teaching swimming lessons during the summers and many of my own strategies and ways to teach aligned with the innovative and developmentally appropriate style that Liquid Lifestyles has worked so hard to cultivate and perfect. It is a big part of why I wouldn’t want to teach anywhere else and excited to grow as a coach through it’s curriculum.

My BS is in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology with an emphasis in Early Child Development. During my time at Brigham Young University I also started teaching in a preschool and learned that my love of teaching extended outside of the pool.  I eagerly applied many of the things I was learning in my education to my interactions with my students. I have taught in several preschools over the years as we have relocated for my husband's training and work and love to teach. I also spent several years as an aid in the special education program for the local school district in southern california and find I have a niche and creative mind for making the adaptations to teach to special needs.

I love teaching and have a real passion for coaching swimming. I can’t wait to see you in the pool!
