DURATION: 1-hour per week / 5 weeks


CLASS DESCRIPTION:

Through step-by-step drills, students learn breathing, balance and propulsive techniques. Advanced movements are combined to build a whole-body swimming stroke, a skill that will last a lifetime. The results allow students to swim with confidence in all depths of water.

PREREQUISITES: 

  • Comfortable in and under the water

  • Independent front and back kick and glides

  • Independent breathing in shallow water

  • Unable to swim full length

  • Uncomfortable in deep water

PRIMARY FOCUS: INDEPENDENCE

  • Increase breath control and comfort underwater

  • Develop deep water self-rescue and water safety techniques

  • Refinement of basic balancing positions and self-propulsion techniques

  • Introduction to sustainable whole-body movements and independent breathing sequences

  • Elementary backstroke
